Just shipped the finalized Zoom files in all of the color variants, and reorganized the file list for the spaceport set because it was getting a little long at 20+ links.
Since the activity logs indicate that practically everyone downloads all of the files and not just a subset of them, it also felt a little silly to expect people to click on 186,950,441 links just to get their stuff. So, I’ve streamlined the list down to one master file per spaceport item, so there are far fewer links to click on now.
Let me know if you run into any oopsies.
I’ll be doing additional work on the spaceport trucks and the hangar bay set this week.

Chris, I see an error on the latest Zoom security car.
At least on my copy,if it’s a corrupted download?
It affects both versions of the security car.
The word security on the door of part 11 is partly cut off at the bottom.
You can see this on both page 1 and page 8.
I didn’t see any errors on the others.
Can you download it again? I just downloaded it from the same link that was sent to you, but it opens and looks fine to me.
Also, if you’re talking about how it looks onscreen, sometimes PDF readers initially display images with resampling artifacts that aren’t actually a part of the file itself. Try printing or even just zooming in or out a bit to see if that’s the case.
OK, it went away. Didn’t need to re-download them.
I don’t know why I didn’t think to check for visual artifacts.
It’s odd that it did the same error on two different pdf files, even after closing and reopening them?
Not really all that odd, come to think of it. I’ve noticed those onscreen visual glitches happening more often ever since Acrobat Reader X or whatever Adobe’s calling it nowadays was rolled out.
I downloaded the Zoom file (didn’t figure I needed the others, and I’m still using DSL so I didn’t want to spend the time.) It won’t open for me, however; I get a message that it’s corrupted. (Only a day old, and already corrupted! I guess what they say about modern society is true. Somehow I get mental images of the file trying to pick up Bratz dolls.)
Have you tried downloading it again? It worked fine for me when I downloaded it. If it doesn’t work the second time, do you have the same problem with the other files?
Tried it again; it worked fine. No corruption; plenty of virtue. Don’t know what the problem was the first time. (Though I tend to think that the file spent too much time watching TV and playing video games.)
Now I need to build a Follow Me car.
Hi Chris. I like the look of the Pinzgauer and the spaceport vehicles we’ve seen so far.
Would it be possible to put a file size indicator on the download links that go out when files update, though? I’m on a fairly slow connection here, and knowing whether I’ve got time to download the new Zoom build before I go to bed (for example) would be handy.
Carlfishman: Oh, good!
Dan Summers: I’ll add the filesize to the file descriptions from now on.
Just completed my “Follow Me” car using the new files. Definitely easier than the original ones! And quite a colorful addition to the set.
This time, I did the wheels a bit differently. Rather than cutting them out all in one piece, I cut the wheel faces apart from the wheel rim. This made it much easier to glue the rim into a loop! Gluing the wheel faces onto that loop afterwards was no harder than when it was attached. I think I’ll follow this procedure with all wheels in the future; or anyway all the small, narrow ones!
But I think I’ve got enough little electric cars now. (I keep thinking of some line from Frank Miller’s Sin City, where the protagonist proclaims that “All modern cars look like electric razors!” He could be talking about Zooms.) Now I’m looking forward to the trucks!
Thanks for giving it another whirl! I’m gonna have to try that trick with the wheels.
I am definitely looking forward to the change of pace the trucks will bring.
